South Carolina announces Everette Sands will join the Gamecocks as a running backs coach.
University of South Carolina head football coach Steve Spurrier fills the final vacancy on his coaching staff.
"We are pleased to announce Everette Sands as our running backs coach," said Coach Spurrier. He's from Conway, was a running back at The Citadel and has been in coaching for several years."
Sands also coached at The Citadel, from 1999-2000 and again from 2005-10. During his second stint he coached three running backs who were named to the Southern Conference All-freshman team and had one back break the school's single-season and single-game records for touchdowns. Between his stints at The Citadel, Sands coached the offensive backs at Ohio University.
He was inducted into The Citadel Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004. His first coaching position came at Elon from 1996-98.
