South Carolina and Nebraska will play in the Capital One Bowl Jan. 2 at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando.

Both teams accepted their bids Sunday. It will be the first meeting between the schools since 1987 and first-ever postseason matchup.

Nebraska (9-3) is wrapping up its first year in the Big Ten and has a chance to post 10 wins for the third straight season. The Cornhuskers are making their fourth straight bowl appearance, with their last win coming in the 2009 Holiday Bowl over Arizona.

South Carolina (10-2) is also making its fourth straight bowl appearance, but hasn't won a bowl game since Houston in the 2006 Liberty Bowl.

The Gamecocks won their final three games of the season, including a win over rival Clemson in the regular-season finale.
