South Carolina State will begin preparing for the 2011 football season
Monday, Aug. 1, when players report to the campus for orientation, team seminars and physicals.
The Bulldogs, who have won or shared the last three Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference
titles and are the 2011 favorites, will conduct their first practice - in shorts and helmets -
Tuesday at 6:40 p.m. Single workouts will also be held Wednesday through Friday (Aug. 3-5) at 6:40 p.m. SC State will hold its annual "Press and Picture Day" Saturday, Aug. 6, beginning at 9 a.m. at Oliver C. Dawson Bulldog Stadium, then conduct its fifth practice at 6:40 p.m.
Two-a-day practices, on an alternating basis, are set to start Monday, Aug. 8. The
morning practice is scheduled for 6:40 and the evening drill at 7:10.
The first preseason scrimmage is set for Saturday, Aug. 13 at 10 a.m.
The team's annual "Meet the Players Day," sponsored by The STATE Club, will be held
August 20th at 12:30 p.m. and will be preceded by the second preseason scrimmage at 10 a.m.
The Bulldogs open their 11-game 2011 schedule Sept. 1 in a 7 p.m. Thursday night
encounter at Central Michigan, one of two Football Bowl Subdivision opponents Pough's team will meet this season.
Coach Buddy Pough, who begins his tenth season at the helm of the SC State football
team, and his Bulldogs open their home schedule Sept. 24 against Delaware State. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
