Rasmussen Reports polling data released Friday morning shows Governor Mitt Romney still controls the race for Palmetto State's GOP presidential preference primary.

The poll conducted in South Carolina on January 12, 2012 shows former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney leading the pack with 28% of South Carolinians supporting his candidacy, which is virtually unchanged from the Rasmussen poll from January 5.  Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum grabs 16% of the vote behind former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich with 21%.  Texas Congressman Ron Paul is now tied for third with Santorum.  Governor Rick Perry and former Governor Jon Huntsman are in single digits.

The Rasmussen poll surveyed 750 likely Republican primary voters and has a margin of error of +/- 4 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.
