Several viewers reported seeing Air Force One flying near the Charleston Air Force base Monday afternoon.
The aircraft our viewers thought was Air Force One is a VC25 Boeing 747, while technically that's the same type of aircraft which flies the president it's not Air Force One.
The Charleston Air Force base says it's only considered Air Force One when the president is aboard.
President Obama is not currently in Charleston.
The VC25 that's here is only one of two assigned to the presidential airlift. Meaning there are two types of planes like Air Force One.
This one is currently here undergoing routine tests but It will be certified for presidential use by the time it leaves here.
The air force base anticipates this VC25 will be in town for a few more days before it flies back to the Joint Base Andrews in Maryland where it is permanently housed.
