A News 2 Exclusive. We got to take a look at the video police say it shows 17- year old Chevonne Younginer. Police believe, after looking around, to make sure she is alone she intentionally, lies down and knocks over a chair.
MUSC campus police say it's most likely, a poor attempt at fainting. But they did take her to the ER to be safe.Police say they arrested Youngener after she placed a, cotton ball, sized object in her child’s mouth.
Then after a few seconds had passed she returned and pushed it deeper until the child was choking and needed medical attention. The child was being monitored by an EGG machine. The device is also equipped with a camera, so staff can monitor a patient visually. They were trying to deterime when the sudden, breathing episodes happen with the child. Police say the most recent one happened, because of the child's mother.
Troy Strother from parents Anonymous, a local group who help abusive parents recover. Says, he speculates it’s more than an angry adult here. It may be a young parent looking for attention. “Certainly with teen parents, we do see some of that going on, seeking attention looking for attention in a negative sort of way. So we do see that here at Parents Anonymous.”
She is charged as an adult and arrested for unlawful conduct towards a child.
