The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office has released internal reports related to the changes made after James Sanders escaped from the Hill-Finklea Detention Center January 26.
After the escape of James Sanders Berkeley County made changes and took action against some employees.
According to county spokesperson Dan Moon, one jail employee was let go, another was demoted while two more were suspended, all for failing to follow procedures which led to an inmate's escape late last month.
Rose Ward said she's on high alert, she lives in the Sangaree area where witnesses report seeing the inmate. “I had every light outside on and I left the light in the kitchen here on and it still concerns me.”
Deputies won't say what procedures could have kept this from happening, but for Jeffrey Greaves, no explanation is necessary.
“If some people weren't following regulations, they should be penalized and getting in trouble,” Greaves said.
Sanders was being held on $42,000 bond for domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature.
