It’s now the slap heard round the lowcountry. And word has certainly spread over the sheriff's action. An action that for the public- may have stained, what was otherwise considered a, stoic piece of law enforcement- Or has it?
Cannon's now famous slap is now ripe for fodder. There are plenty of opinions and they are varying and numerous. But most, it seems, are backing Cannon for his open handed actions.
Most we talked to are falling on the side that it was emotion. And the slap is because of the moment and not the man. Cannon is not as supportive of the action. He said at a news conference on Wednesday that - in retrospect, it was wrong. But so far, the public is not as critical.
