The College of Charleston student body president faces an impeachment vote following offensive Twitter comments about women, gays, blacks and his colleagues.

The Student Government Association votes on Ross Kressel's case Tuesday. If two-thirds approve impeachment, the school's Honor Council has eight days to decide the case.

Kressel gave a statement to the college newspaper, The George Street Observer, calling the tweets unprofessional, inappropriate and misguided. He said he is working to repair the damage but said he views the tweets as private.

Kressel is paid $13.50 an hour and can receive the cost of in-state tuition, almost $10,000 a year.

College spokesman Mike Robertson says the college has no comment but will allow the student government process to proceed.
