WCBD News 2 has been named the number one TV station in Charleston by Moultrie News readers.
This award is part of the East Cooper newspaper’s Reader’s Choice 2011. “Best TV Station” is one of 125 categories in the Reader’s Choice. The Moultrie News says they received double the responses from readers over last year.
The award is featured the Wednesday edition, available 1 July. Copies of the paper can be found at the following locations: The BP Gas Station on Sullivan’s Island, Causey’s Barber Shop in the Sea Island Shopping Center off of Chuck Dawley, the Johnnie Dodds’ location of Chick fil A, Just Fresh on Long Point Rd, the Charleston County Library on Anna Knapp, The Red & White on the Isle of Palms, the Royall Hardware on Coleman Blvd, The Seewee Outpost on Highway 17, Mt. Pleasant Town Hall on Houston Northcutt, and the Village Creek off of Anna Knapp.

WCBD News 2 first came onto the airwaves as WUSN-TV in 1954. WCBD was purchased by Media General in 1983 and became an NBC Affiliate in 1996. The station celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2004. WCBD News 2 is equipped with two microwave live trucks, a mobile satellite truck, several portable microwave live units and a fleet of news vehicles. The news department has access to over 50 remote cameras located throughout the Lowcountry via the SC Department of Transportation Traffic Cameras as well as a tower overlooking the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge and the Charleston Harbor.
