UPDATE: 5:50pm Wednesday
On Wednesday, the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office charged Brandon Shuman of Ludowici, GA with Violation of Due Care statute. A law dictionary website describes "Due Care" as the conduct that a reasonable man or woman will exercise in a particular situation, in looking out for the safety of others.
Shuman was the driver of the 2007 Ford Focus involved in a fatal auto pedestrian accident, on Tuesday.
Shuman was traveling Northbound on Hwy 17 and veered off of the road, hitting 48 year old Marino San Martin who was walking North on the road shoulder close to the white fog line.
It was discovered during the investigation of the accident that the driver was dealing with a medical issue.
Court date is scheduled for September 13th at 11 a.m.

We now know the name of a pedestrian, who was hit and killed on Savannah highway in Ravenel on Tuesday.
The Charleston county coroner says 48 year old Marino San Martin from the Miami Beach area died from blunt injuries.
The Charleston county sheriff's office is investigating.
PREVIOUS:
The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division is currently investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian accident on Savannah Highway Northbound, in the 4500 block (near Parks Salvage).
Currently one lane is closed Northbound and is expected to be closed for approximately 45 minutes to an hour.
No other information at this time as accident is still being investigated.
