A group of doctors say there is growing concern over preventable injuries to young athletes and those injuries are dismantling kids' athletic hopes and dreams.
There is a new campaign to help stop those injuries and encourage young athletes not to over-train.
Director of Sports Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina, Dr. David Geier serves on the Public Relations Committee for the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine. AOSSM has partnered with several sports medicine organizations to create the STOP Sports Injuries campaign, aimed at reducing the number of traumatic and overuse injuries occurring in youth sports.
Dr. Geier joined me on My News 2 to talk about ways to avoid over-training.
