SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- A 9 year old girl has a likely broken leg, and will have surgery Wednesday, after being struck by a pickup truck that witnesses say crossed a double yellow line, swerving around a parked ice cream truck.

The accident happened Tuesday afternoon on Longview Drive in Spartanburg County.

The girl, Shontel Harris was buying ice cream and crossing the street to return to her home, when she was hit.

Harris was rushed to Spartanburg Regional hospital.

The driver of the pickup, who lives on the same street as the girl, was questioned by the highway patrol.

No word yet on any charges.

Harris' mother says her daughter had a humerous request from her hospital bed Tuesday night. She asked for ice cream.
