A car driven by a 79-year-old woman slammed into a Rite Aid store on Bacons Bridge Road in Summerville, injuring a 17-month-old child.

Police said the child was in a cart, which was knocked over.

The toddler was taken to a hospital to be examined.

The incident happened just before noon.

Police said the driver told them she thought she'd hit the brakes but pushed the gas pedal instead.
