South Carolina State Representative Tim Scott announced Monday that he will make a run for the First Congressional District in November.

Scott, who ditched a run for Lt. Governor, changed his website to Tim Scott for Congress over the weekend.

Fellow republican Carroll Campbell immediately responded to Scott's announcement with criticism. Campbell's campgain emailed a statement emailed to News 2 on Monday morning, saying, "Tim Scott will be trying to run for his third office in just two years; abandoning what appears to be a failed campaign for Lt. Governor. Mr. Scott is just another politician in a string, all scrambling over one another to get into a campaign I have been in for nearly a year. The people of South Carolina are tired of political opportunists."

Scott is on his way to News 2 for an interview, and we will ask him for a response to those statements.
