SC Congressman Joe Wilson says the president's assertion Wednesday night that the health car bill does not cover illegals prompted him to shout 'you lie'.
In a brief session with the media in front of his office Thursday morning, Wilson said Republican leadership urged him to call the White House White house and "state that my statements were inappropriate, and I did".
Wilson also said the White House appreciated his call, and expressed a desire to have a civilized discussion about health care issues. He said, he agrees, but would not answer the question of whether he regreted what he did.
The 2nd District representative, then defended the issues behind his outburst, saying the bills do include coverage for people who are in this country illegally.
