_____________PRESS RELEASE BELOW_________
MONCKS CORNER, S.C. Wednesday, November 25, 2009 – As a safety precaution, Berkeley County Water & Sanitation officials are issuing a boil water advisory for residents living in certain sections of the Whitesville and Pinopolis Community.
This advisory only affects residents living on Old Whitesville Road from the intersection of Crestwood Drive North to Hwy 6 and all side streets, and all residents living on Pinopolis Road and all side streets north of Hwy 6 to the entrance of Wampee.
A water main was damage in this area and in order to facilitate the repair the main was shut down. Once pressure has been restored BCWS will be flushing the mains and taking water samples to ensure safe drinking water is restored to your home. This process takes 24 hours to obtain the results of the samples.
Until further notification, residents are asked to boil all water that is used for drinking, cooking, and making ice prior to use. To ensure the destruction of all harmful bacteria, the water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil, and then boiled for an additional minute.
