Charleston County schools chief receives award

Charleston County School District Superintendent Nancy McGinley has been named South Carolina Recreation and Parks Association's Local Government Official of the Year.

Charleston County School District Superintendent Nancy McGinley has been named South Carolina Recreation and Parks Association's Local Government Official of the Year.

The award was announced at the SCRPA annual conference in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Kevin Walsh, Executive Director of the St. Andrew’s Parish Parks and Playground Commission, the local agency that nominated McGinley, wrote in his announcement letter, “Your leadership in mandating that all CCSD teachers complete the Darkness 2 Light training, the Superintendent’s Cup Challenge Tennis Tournament, and the Learn to Swim Initiative made you an outstanding candidate to receive this award.”

Anybody who worked for a local, municipal or county government is eligible for the award.
