»  Comments | Post a Comment

MUSC is the first center in south carolina to perform an islet cell transplant for chronic pancreatitis. This procedure is made possible through a new, "clean lab" at musc, where researchers use clinical grade cellular and tissue products for patient treatment. This allows musc researchers to process anything from stem cells to organs with the goal of fighting diseases. The innovative facility will treat patients with cancer, diabetes, and chronic pancreatitis.
