Holly Hill police said a 71-year-old homeowner shot and injured a burglar early Tuesday.
Police said they recieved a report of a burglary on Peake Street at 4:55 am.
It was from a home that had been broken into several times before in the past year.
Police said the homeowner woke up and came up behind the intruder.
The intruder tried to get away and pushed the door into the home owner.
Police said that's when the homeowner's twelve-gauge shotgun went off and hit the burglar in the right shoulder.
He then ran from the scene.
The responding officer then got a call that there was a man at a home couple blocks away who'd been shot.
The officer arrested the burglary suspect.
He was airlifted to MUSC, where he underwent emergency surgery.

The suspect is identified as Roosevelt Elmore Jr., 39, of Holly Hill.
