A number of residents living on Old Dominion Drive in Hanahan found pamphlets from the National Socialist Movement wrapped up inside newspapers that were in their driveways Sunday morning. The pamphlets were all imprinted with a swastika.
After speaking with residents in the area, we were able to find three different pamphlets. One was titled "Wake Up Whitey." Yet another said "It's Tax Time Whitey." And the third pamphlet said "The Truth About Illegal Aliens Flooding into America's Border Daily." That particular pamphlet was inserted into El Informador, a Spanish-language newspaper. We spoke with the director for the paper, and she said she's upset anyone would put that in her publication.
The Hanahan Police Department is investigating, but they say they aren't sure any crime has been committed, other than possibly littering.
The National Socialist Movement is classified in the Southern Poverty Law Center as a Neo-Nazi organization in the US. It was founded in 1974 by a former member of the American Nazi party before its decline. It claims to be the the largest and most active Neo-Nazi organization in the US. The National Socialist Movement was responsible for the demonstration that sparked the 2005 Toledo Riots.
