Boeing CEO discusses 787 test flight planned for Tuesday

» 0 Comments | Post a Comment

Boeing Company's 787 Dreamliner is scheduled to take its first of 10 months of test flights Tuesday.

The initial flight has been delayed since August of 2007.

Boeing CEO Jim Albaugh calls the plane a game-changer because it provides so much value to the customer and is a very efficient airplane.

Made of lightweight carbon and titanium, it's expected to save airlines millions of dollars in fuel and maintenance costs.

It was delayed by a faulty design, a shortage of bolts and a two-month strike.

The plane is designed to carry around 250 people on long distances.

Airlines have ordered 840 of them, worth about $140-billion each.
