A lowcountry homeless shelter is seeing a major increase in people, due to the ongoing recession. The Palmetto house in Summerville, not only provides meals, clothing, and shelter for the homeless, but it also provides resume,G.E.D, and job placement assistance.
With the recession, officials say they are serving double the number of people they served this time last year. They now serve one hundred people per day. That's about three-thousand per month, and thirty-six thousand per year.
