Hanna has weakened a little bit this morning and has been downgraded from a hurricane to a tropical storm. Maximum sustained winds have decreased from 80 mph to 70 mph. Tropical Storm Hanna is located very near Great Inagua Island in the Bahamas. The tropical storm is drifting toward the west at 2 mph. However, Hanna is expected to begin moving northwestward tonight and Wednesday as a ridge of high pressure begins to build off the east coast of the US. Hanna is producing upwards of 20 inches is some of the southeastern Bahama islands.

The forecast track of Hanna continues to bring her up the Southeast coast and make a landfall between Florida and the Outer Banks in North Carolina. There is still a lot of uncertainty with the track but moderate strengthening is likely before landfall. Now is the time to begin preparations for a potential hurricane. Impacts will be felt late Thursday and Friday.
