Sunday Weather Discussion
In the wake of Tropical Storm Hanna, sinking air in the atmosphere provided mostly sunny skies and very warm conditions on Saturday. Today as Hanna pulls further away we will lose its influence and see more clouds. Some clouds may produce a few widely scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially during the afternoon and evening. The threat of rip currents continues at the beaches as swells from Hurricane Ike are beginning to move into the coastal waters. Ike will pass to the south of Florida peninsula as it passes near Cuba for a couple of days before entering into the Gulf of Mexico. A cold front will approach the area late Tuesday into Wednesday bringing a better chance of rain. That frontal boundary will stall out across the Lowcountry and that will keep a decent chance of showers and storms in the forecast Wednesday through Friday.
