Monday forecast update

We will find ourselves between Sunday’s departing storm system and another cold front today.  Southwest winds will allow our temperatures to reach the middle to upper 50s under partly to mostly cloudy skies.  By tonight, the second cold front approaches and crosses the area.  A weak storm system will develop in response to the front which could spread some light rain or perhaps a few snowflakes into the Lowcountry late tonight and into Tuesday.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Orangeburg county from 3AM through 3PM Tuesday with the possibility of light accumulations.  At this point, I don’t expect any significant winter weather problems with this storm for the remainder of the area.  Accumulations, if any, should be very light and limited due to the likelihood most of the area will remain above freezing.  However, we will continue to monitor this situation, as any change in the storm systems track or strength could have significant impacts on our weather.

Temperatures on Tuesday should be quite cold again with many of us remaining in the upper 30s to lower 40s through the afternoon.  It appears our temperatures will be headed toward the upper teens to lower 20s once again on Wednesday morning as cold air continue to filter into the region.  We could also have to deal with some wind chill problems, and another round of Wind Chill Advisories is possible.  Highs on Wednesday will likely remain near 40 to the middle 40s.

A warming trend will begin on Thursday with most of us rising into the 50s or even a few 60s by Friday afternoon.  Another cold front will arrive over the weekend with a chance of rain.
