Two-time Daytona 500 winner Michael
Waltrip is scaling back his schedule to make room for Martin Truex
Jr. to join his team in 2010.
Truex will leave Earnhahrdt-Ganassi Racing at the end of this
season to drive the No. 56 Toyota.
Waltrip will keep his No. 55, but run a partial schedule.
The 46-year-old Waltrip said at the start of this season he
would give up full-time driving if he could not compete with
teammate David Reutimann.
Reutimann won his first race this season and is 14th in points.
Waltrip is 34th.
Truex has one career victory and finished a career-best 11th in
the 2007 standings. He’s 24th in points.
