SC State’s Ford Earns Another Honor

ORANGEBURG, SC - South Carolina State running back Will Ford, today, added
another award to his already impressive 2008 honors as he was named the recipient of the
Banks McFadden Award, given annually to the top collegiate player in the Palmetto State
by the Greenville Touchdown Club.
Ford, a junior of Travelers Rest, SC, will be presented the prestigious award
Monday, Dec. 8, at the 55th Annual Greenville Touchdown Club Awards Banquet,
beginning at 7 p.m. at Brookwood Community Church.
The group will also recognize the All-Greenville County Team, along with the
area high school player and coach of the year.
Ford earlier was named Offensive Player of the Year in the Mid-Eastern Athletic
Conference after leading the Bulldogs to a 10-3 overall mark, the MEAC title with an
unblemished 8-0 record, and the school’s first Football Championship Subdivision (FCS)
playoff berth in 26 years.
The Bulldog junior rushed for 1,499 yards and 13 touchdowns for Coach Buddy
Pough’s team and had a school-record eight 100-yard rushing games during the season.
A finalist for the Walter Payton Award, given annually to the best offensive player in the
FCS, Ford moved to within 1,009 yards of the MEAC’s all-time rushing record.
