COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - While South Carolina State continues one
of its best seasons ever, the rest of the state’s small colleges
are struggling.
Furman and Wofford are out of the playoff hunt. The Citadel and
Charleston Southern have lost heartbreakers to some of the best
teams in their conferences. Coastal Carolina had hopes it would
rise back into a playoff contender, but is playing out another
mediocre year. And Presbyterian hasn’t won a game.
In games Saturday involving the state’s Football Championship
Subdivision teams, South Carolina State is at Howard; Wofford
travels to The Citadel; Furman is at Auburn; Presbyterian hosts
Charleston Southern; and Coastal Carolina hosts Gardner-Webb.
