Gamecocks move to #21

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Once again, South Carolina found just
enough offense to keep its stellar season moving downfield.
The latest example for the Gamecocks (6-2, 3-2 Southeaastern
Conference), who improved two spots to No. 21 on Sunday, came with
fourth-quarter, 99-yard drive ended on young receiver Alshon
Jeffery’s game-winning touchdown catch in a 14-10 victory over
Vanderbilt.
Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier says his offense didn’t play
smart against a tough Vanderbilt defenese. Probably the most
intelligent move was getting the ball to Jeffery, the rangy, quiet
6-foot-3 freshman who originally committed to Southern Cal before
choosing to remain close to South Carolina home.
