Sexton is a 6-2, 175-pound guard who can serve as the point guard or shooting guard. At Tennessee Temple Academy, he was the district and region player of the year in 2008 and 2009. He was an all-state selection both years, and was named to the 2009 all-state tournament team, leading his squad to a runner-up finish. Sexton amassed over 2,100 points over his career and was the Chattanooga High School Player of the Year, and a McDonald’s All-American nominee as a senior. He had three triple-doubles in his senior year, averaging 18 points, eight assists and six rebounds a game, earning him a runner-up finish as Tennessee’s Mr. Basketball.
Coach Radebaugh on Jeremy Sexton
“Jeremy has enjoyed an incredible high school career. He has accomplished almost every personal and team goal that a player in his state can accomplish. Jeremy has good size and is an efficient scorer. He has super court vision and has a real ability to pass the ball. He is of strong character coming from a wonderful family and having played for one of the best high school coaches in Tennessee.“
Patrick Shaughnessy, 6-9, 238, C, Hixson, Tenn. (Grace Christian)
A 6-9, 238-pound center, Shaughnessy comes to CSU from Grace Christian. As a senior, he was named to the all-district and all-state tournament teams, and was named the regional tournament MVP. Holding an average of 14 points, nine rebounds and three blocks per game, Shaughnessy was selected as a starter for the Tennessee State All-Star Game. He helped lead his team to a 27-6 overall record and an appearance in the state quarterfinals.
Coach Radebaugh on Patrick Shaughnessy
“Patrick is a worker. He has a big motor and plays as hard as any high school player I have ever seen. His character and attitude toward the game is contagious. Patrick’s size and strength will be a welcome addition to our program. He has a soft touch around the rim and can face up from 15-feet. Patrick played on an outstanding high school team and showed evidence all season of being willing to do the fundamentals things it takes to win.“
Tom Tankelewicz, 6-5, 185, SF, Apex, N.C. (Middle Creek HS)
Tankelewicz averaged 19 points, six rebounds and three assists per game at Middle Creek High School in Apex, N.C. He was a McDonald’s All-American nominee and named to the first-team all-conference and academic all-conference team as a senior. He shot 43 percent from behind the arc and 80 percent from the charity stripe for the season, and set the record for three-pointers made in the N.C./S.C. All-Star Game. He also tied the three-point record for the 2009 Glaxo Smith Kline Holiday Invitational with 14 made, tying Ma tt Bonner’s record and earning all-tournament team honors. With 37 points in a game, he set his high school record, also holding the school mark with 87 made three-pointers during his senior season.
Coach Radebaugh on Tom Tankelewicz
“Tom is a basketball junkie. His improvement over the last 12 months is incredible and is a credit to his character and perserverance. By the end of the season, Tom was widely recognized as one of the top players in North Carolina. He shot the ball from three-point range as well as any high school player in his state last season. His performance in the N.C./S.C. All-Star Game is evidence of his abilities. Tom’s attitude and character will fit in well with our team next season.“
Stanley Honorat, 6-3, 180, SG, Miami, Fla. (Indian River Comm. Coll./Miami-Norland HS)
The lone transfer in the class, Honorat will come to CSU as a junior having spent two season as the shooting guard at I ndian River Community College playing for Coach Mike Leatherwood. In the past two years, Honorat has helped lead his team to 51 victories and was the leading scorer on the team last season averaging 16 points per game. One of his best performances was dropping 33 points against a loaded Miami-Dade College team that has at least four players going to Memphis and other BCS conference schools.
Coach Radebaugh on Honorat
“Stanley is a classic late-bloomer. He really excelled his sophomore year at IRCC. He is a high-percentage scorer and gives us another threat from the perimeter. He scores equally well from three and off the dribble. As a transfer, he is seasoned and is fundamentally sound. We have been extremely pleased with Stanley’s character and maturity during the recruiting process.“
