Frost Advisory in effect for portions of the Lowcountry

A Frost Advisory is in effect for portions of the area as another night of unseasonably cold temperatures is on the way.

Mt. Pleasant dentist survives deadly sailing accident

Dr. Kevin Hogan survived when the 44-foot sailboat he was on started sinking during a storm off the New Jersey coast early Wednesday. Another Mt. Pleasant resident survived, but a fellow passenger was killed and a Coast Guard rescue swimmer was injured.

As of 5:00 pm, a weather system dumped between one and two inches of rain on the Charleston area.

Friday morning forecast

One last warm day across the Lowcountry before much cooler weather moves in for the weekend. Scattered light rain showers will move in late this evening through tomorrow morning. High temperatures will go from the 80’s today to the 60’s tomorrow.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 6PM

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for much of the Lowcountry through 6PM. An area of low pressure moving across the southeast will usher in widespread showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Damaging winds and large hail are both possible with storms this afternoon.

A few more clouds will be around today then on Saturday. A weak disturbance will also allow for a few showers and thunderstorms to build up during the afternoon, although most folks will stay dry. Temperatures will continue to be above average with highs in the low 90’s.
