Tropical Depression Two remains just below tropical storm strength, still moving toward the west.

Tropical Depression #2 continues to move westward in the Atlantic

Maximum sustained winds continue at 35 mph as the depression moves westward at 13 mph. Another strong wave is pushing off the coast of Africa and could become TD #3.

Non-tropical storm to landfall in South Carolina

A storm system bringing rain and wind to the Lowcountry will landfall near the South Carolina Grand Strand tonight.

Tropical Storm Kyle forms just east of the Bahamas

The large area of distrubed weather we have been tracking from the eastern Caribbean to its current location just east of the Bahamas has become Tropical Storm Kyle.

Thursday Forecast Discussion

Windy and rainy times are ahead for parts of the Lowcountry over the next 24 hours. A coastal low pressure system will move onshore near the Grand Strand late today. Beach erosion, coastal flooding and gale warnings are the biggest concerns.

Storm forming off South Carolina coast

A coastal low is quickly developing about 250 miles off of the Charleston coastline. Hurricane Hunter aircraft will investigate this system this afternoon to determine whether this system is tropical or subtropical in nature. This storm could be named Kyle this afternoon.

Monday Forecast Discussion

Cloudy and comfortable conditions are in place across the South Carolina Lowcountry as we start out the work week. There is only a small chance of a shower today, mainly along coastal locations this morning.  Sunshine will break out as some drier air works in throughout the day. We are watching the potential for a coastal low to develop, along with a tropical system by the end of the work week.

Tuesday Forecast Discussion

A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms are possible today. A cold front will approach from the west over the next several days bringing a better chance of showers and storms through the end of the work week. Increased cloud cover Wednesday through Friday will hold the temperatures down in the low to middle 80’s.

Hanna on the move, a little stronger

Tropical Storm Hanna is now on the move and is expected to accelerate toward the Southeastern United States over the next couple of days.  Maximum sustained winds are now near 65 mph as the storm has become better organized this evening.

Hanna Downgraded…For Now

Hanna has now been downgraded from a hurricane to a tropical storm as it moves erratically through the Bahamas. Hanna will likely regain hurricane status later today or tomorrow.
