A crew member on a U.S.-flagged cargo ship captured by pirates off the coast of Somalia is suing his employers, claiming they sent him into pirate-infested waters without adequate protection.

Somali pirate suspect arrives in New York City

The sole surviving Somali pirate from the hostage-taking of an American ship captain arrived in New York, smiling for a gaggle of cameras and reporters as federal agents led him into custody to face charges in the attack at a court hearing Tuesday.

UPDATE:  Rescued captain headed back to U.S.

The cargo-ship captain who was recently freed from his pirate captors boarded a company plane Friday at the airport in Mombasa, Kenya, for a flight back to the United States.

The lone pirate who survived the attempted hijacking of an American cargo ship will be put on trial in New York.

Maersk crew returns to U.S. to warm welcome

The crew of the Maersk Alabama, the U.S.-flagged cargo ship hijacked by Somali pirates last week, arrived in the United States early Thursday. Captain Richard Phillips arrived in Kenya but it is not known yet when he will return to the US.

UPDATE: Captive captain not hurt, company says

The Captain of the Maersk Alabama is still being held by the pirates who hijacked the ship but Maersk reports that he is unharmed.  The U.S. Navy has called FBI negotiators to help negotiate his release.

Ship carrying 20 Americans believed hijacked off Somalia

Pirates have attacked a cargo ship with a crew of at least 20 U.S. nationals, according to the company that owns the vessel.
