A former middle-school student who was strip-searched by school officials looking for ibuprofen pain medication won a partial victory of her Supreme Court appeal Thursday in a case testing the discretion of officials to ensure classroom safety.

Aubrey Sparks is a bubbly middle school student who blends in with her friends…but her grades do nothing but stand out. In the fall she’ll be one of 20 girls from around the world enrolling in a program for the exceptionally gifted at Mary Baldwin College in Stanton.

As the school year soon comes to a close it’s the end of an era for 5 Charleston schools which will not reopen in the fall.
