The extra weight increases the risk for health problems normally seen in adults, like high blood pressure, high cholesterol and type 2 diabetes. Overweight children are also at higher risk for asthma, sleep apnea and orthopedic/joint problems.

Help for defective hearts

Operation for a second replacement is more difficult for the surgeon and riskier to the patient.
The Melody™ Transcatheter Valve, placed into the heart through a catheter, is being studied at a few sites across the U.S.
