Lowcountry residents are busy buying hurricane supplies.

Hanna isn’t keeping people from enjoying the beach.  Surfers were still in the water Tuesday afternoon despite warnings of rips currents as the storm approaches. 

Emergency managers will hold a 2 P.M. news conference to update the public on preparations for the possibility of Hanna’s impacts on the Lowcountry

Division spokesman Derrec Becker said Tuesday officials are in close contact with the National Hurricane Center and Gov. Mark Sanford about the storm.

Hanna has now been downgraded from a hurricane to a tropical storm as it moves erratically through the Bahamas. Hanna will likely regain hurricane status later today or tomorrow.

High pressure is building into the Lowcountry and will bring a couple of very nice days before things head downhill late this week. Tropical Storm Hanna continues to have her eyes set on the Southeast coastline.

Hurricane Hanna continues to strengthen over the Bahamas with maximum sustained winds near 80 miles per hour.  Hanna is a category one hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale.

After a day where we were dodging raindrops from time to time, it looks like the next couple of days will be very quiet.  We expect that the impact from Hurricane Hanna will be felt later in the week, maybe beginning as early as Thursday afternoon or evening.

Tropical Storm Hanna begins to organize as it continues to churn east of the Bahamas. 

A very warm day is ahead across the Lowcountry with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm. The great weather continues through the holiday weekend with lots of sunshine and only a small chance of rain.

Tropical Storms Gustav and Hannah are likely to become hurricanes by the weekend. Gustav likely to become a major hurricane and poses a significant threat to the central Gulf of Mexico.

Hanna strengthens northeast of the Leeward Islands with maximum sustained winds of 50 mph.

Tropical Storm Gustav is pummeling Jamaica as Hanna organizes to the northeast of Puerto Rico.
