SC Military Preparing for Hanna
Military installations across the Carolinas are making preparations for tropical weather approaching the Southeast.
Gov. Sanford comes home thanks to Hanna
Gov. Mark Sanford was scheduled to speak at the Republican National Convention Monday night, but that night’s agenda was cut short and his speech was postponed because of Hurricane Gustav’s landfall in Louisiana.
Hanna on the move, a little stronger
Tropical Storm Hanna is now on the move and is expected to accelerate toward the Southeastern United States over the next couple of days. Maximum sustained winds are now near 65 mph as the storm has become better organized this evening.
Air Force Ball Canceled
The Air Force ball, originally scheduled for this Saturday at the Charleston Air Force Base, has been canceled thanks to Hanna.
Hanna halting port traffic
The threat of high winds and rough seas from Tropical Storm Hanna has prompted the State Ports Authority to restrict port operations. Land traffic in and out of the Port of Charleston will be restricted to trucks coming in to pick up containers on Thursday.
Hanna expected to strengthen today
Emergency officials are urging residents of the South Carolina coast to have plans ready in case Tropical Storm Hanna spins toward the state.
