Once a Category 4 storm, Ike has lost some of its steam over land. It’s currently a Category 1, but the hurricane is expected to re-energize in the warm Gulf waters.

Texas and Louisiana are getting ready for Hurricane Ike, which is forecast to make landfall along the Gulf Coast by the weekend.

This time it’s Florida residents who are being told to evacuate their homes as Hurricane Ike has its sights set on Cuba, and then possibly the Florida Keys.

The surf along the Keys is calm now but that could change dramatically in the next 24-48 hours.
