Officials says a group of men are trying to sell coupons for DTV converter boxes. The problem? The Government is issuing them for free.

Television stations across the country are now broadcasting in digital only, and that move seems to be helping one local cable company.

The switch to digital television is here. Channel 2 will complete the transition here in the lowcountry when we turn off our analog signal at 11:30 tonight.

If you need to get rid of an analog television after the DTV switch, Charleston County encourages you to take it to one of eight convenience centers for recycling.

By midnight, television broadcasters nationwide will stop using analog signals in favor of digital transmission.  NBC shuts off its analog signal at 11:30 pm.

The FCC says the most common problem people call their hotline with is that their D-TV convertor box doesn’t pick up all the channels they expect.

Don’t be confused by the digital switch.  In Charleston, it’s simple.  Local Fox and ETV stations will switch Tuesday night.  The rest, including WCBD, will wait until June 12.

The House has defeated a bill to postpone the upcoming transition from analog to digital television broadcasting by four months to June 12.
