One person is custody in connection with shots being fired in Colleton County near Walterboro. The shots were fired just a little more than a mile away from where 2 shootings took place in Walterboro last week.

Just two days after a drive-by shooting killed three people in Walterbor, including a one-year-old girl, a shooting Wednesday night in Colleton County sent two more to the hospital.

A year ago today, shooter gunned down Colleton County Deputy Dennis Compton.  Thursday, family members and the community are coming together to celebrate his life.

The grant is part of the Assistance to Firefighters program to enhance ability to respond to fire-related hazards in the community.

Robert Barnett, 22, died Tuesday in a crash in Colleton County.

The Coroner’s Office has released the name of a teen killed in the crash.  Plus, an update on the condition of the deputy involved.

Authorities say an 80-year-old man appears to have been shot to death and his body left beside his car on a rural road in Colleton County.

Eighteen-year-old Jacoby Jermaine Fields of Walterboro and 19-year-old Travis Javon Harris of Smoaks have been charged in the death last month of Deputy Dennis Compton.
