Over 12,000 riders board CARTA’s fleet of buses on a daily basis. CARTA is asking riders to carry and use hand sanitizer.

CARTA surpassed four million passenger trips in 2008—the second highest ridership level in the transit system’s more than 10-year history.

As gas prices rise, CARTA bus service says they’re seeing more and more people catching a ride.  But, starting October 5th fares will go up.

In order to meet growing system demands and to continue to enhance the Charleston area’s public transportation system, beginning Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, the CARTA will implement six route adjustments and a 20 percent increase in the price of fares and passes.

Beginning today you can ride and park for free in any of the five park and ride locations in Goose Creek, Monks Corner, Ridgeville and Summerville and transfer to a CARTA express bus route at the Super K-Mart in Otranto.
