Now that the country is in a recession, some families barely are hanging on to their middle-class lives. Others have lost their grip. Parents say they worry most about the negative effects on their children.

Today in Washington, we get a fresh batch of economic reports, a day after another big sell-off on Wall Street.  The Dow fell another 733 points. 

The U.S. has teamed up with banks around the world to ease interest rates in hopes of preventing this global financial crisis from getting worse.

The top congressional budget analyst says pension plans have lost as much as $2 trillion in the past 15 months.
