Joey Sovine - Meteorologist

Storm Team 2 Meteorologist Joey Sovine arrived in February of 2008 and can be seen * weekends on News 2 at 6, 7 and 11PM. Joey comes to the Lowcountry after spending the past year as a meteorologist at WVVA-TV in Bluefield, West Virginia.

A native of Salem, Virginia, Joey graduated from Millersville University in Pennsylvania with a Bachelors of Science degree in Meteorology.

While at Millersville, Joey participated in the National Collegiate Forecasting Contest. As a senior, he finished in first place nationally amongst over 700 students and faculty nationwide. He also was a lead forecaster for the Campus Weather Service providing weather forecasts for the university.

Professionally, Joey is a member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association.

Joey is a huge Virginia Tech fan and he also enjoys cheering on the Cleveland Browns and Indians. In his free time, Joey loves to be outdoors camping and fishing. He looks forward to being involved in the community.
