Octavia Mitchell joined the Count on 2 News team in March 2002. In April 2007, she was named Weekend Anchor, and is also the News 2 Education reporter.

Octavia is a graduate of South Carolina State University, and has a Bachelor's Degree in English and Broadcasting.

Octavia is an emmy award winning journalist, and has received numerous awards for her role in the community.

A Lowcountry native, Octavia is happy to be close to home. She grew up in Awendaw, South Carolina. She enjoys spending time with her son Cayden, reading to students, and mentoring teens. She also enjoys dancing and writing poetry.

Octavia is an active member of the National Association of Black Journalists and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
