Britain to hold a inquiry into the Iraq war

LONDON (AP) - Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s office says Britain will hold a long-awaited inquiry into the Iraq war.
Brown has repeatedly pledged to examine mistakes made during and after the 2003 U.S-led invasion.
Lawmakers and anti-war protesters have called for the inquiry to be held in public and to scrutinize what they say were a wide range of errors in postwar planning.
Brown’s spokesman Michael Ellam said Monday the prime minister would make a statement to Parliament. He declined to say whether the inquiry would be held in public or private.
