This past weekend, the Spartanburg Herald-Journal reported that Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright spent more than 1.3 million dollars on vehicle repair and service at a local Ford dealership, despite the county having its own maintenance shop. Today, we went looking for answers.
The manager of the county shop says that his shop could have handled all of the repairs, at a much lower rate.
The sheriff says he could get the cars back on the streets faster by going to the local dealership. All of this has the sheriff at odds with the county administrator, and disagreement over county policy.
