S.C. prosecutor to run against Congressman Inglis

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina prosecutor has joined a growing list of Republicans who plan to challenge Congressman Bob Inglis.
Multiple media outlets reported that prosecutor Trey Gowdy on Monday announced his plans to run against Inglis for the Fourth District seat in 2010. The 44-year-old is in his third term as state prosecutor for Spartanburg and Cherokee counties.
The Fourth District is made up mostly of Greenville and Spartanburg counties.
Inglis served in the U.S. House from 1993-1999, but the Republican gave up his seat because of a term-limit pledge. He was re-elected in 2004 and has served since.
His other announced challengers are professor Christina Jeffrey of Spartanburg, businessman Andrew Smart of Greenville and Air Force veteran Jim Lee of Mauldin.
