Two former city of Union officials charged in an alleged public corruption scheme are expected to appear in court.
Former Mayor Bruce Morgan and former Zoning Administrator Jeffrey Lawson are scheduled to have pretrial conferences in federal court in Spartanburg on Tuesday.
They are charged with conspiring to accept kickbacks in return for doling out government contracts.
Prosecutors say the men took $30,000 from at least three contractors.
Morgan resigned just before his indictment was announced, and Lawson is on administrative leave without pay. Both men are free on bond.
After Morgan and Lawson were charged, interim Mayor Harold Thompson said the city would change the way it approves payments for contractors.
