Son accidently shoots, kills dad

The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office says a man is dead after looking at a gun with his son. 

The 18-year-old and his father were looking at the father’s gun collection at a home on Motor Boat Club Road when the gun the son was handling discharged Tuesday night. 

Deputies say the man was shot in the face and pronounced dead at the scene.  The Greenville County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Jonathan Riggins, Sr, 38.

An autopsy is planned for Wednesday to gather more evidence in the case and more clearly determine if the shooting was accidental.
